Aleksandr Andreev made Shafarik for the academic presentation of Old Church Slavonic texts, written in either Cyrillic or Glagolitic. It is named after Pavel Jozef Šafárik, a Slovak-born scholar who lived from 1795 to 1861 and helped found modern Slavic philology.
